THREE more men ranked 20th or higher will join world No.3 Andy Murray at the Brisbane International.
Frenchman Gilles Simon, ranked 12th, Ukranian world No.16 Alexandr Dolgopolov and Tommy Haas of Germany, who has a protected ranking of No.20, have been confirmed as starters.
Fan favourites James Blake and Marcos Baghdatis will also play the event starting on New Year's Day, along with inaugural champion Radek Stepanek, Spain's Tommy Robredo and Austrian Jurgen Melzer.
Rising Gold Coast star Bernard Tomic (No.41) is joined in the draw by the only other teenager in the Top 100, American Ryan Sweeting (No.73).
The men's field is considerably weaker than the women's, which boasts nine of the top 20 players in the world.
An already stellar field including Sam Stosur, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters, will also feature 2011 Brisbane finalist Andrea Petkovic and 2010 French Open champion Francesca Schiavone.
Former No.1 Jelena Jankovic, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Dominika Cibulkova join Ana Ivanovic in the line-up.
Tournament director Cameron Pearson said: "We have attracted another world-class field. Between them they have won 23 Grand Slam titles."
Australian No. 2 Matthew Ebden has been awarded wild cards for Brisbane and Sydney.
Australian Matthew Ebden has been awarded wild cards for the Brisbane International and Apia International Sydney. The World No. 86, who will line up in Brisbane alongside Gilles Simon, Philipp Petzschner and Ryan Harrison, said he was looking forward to the ATP World Tour 250 tournament and hopes to be able to better his performance from last year.
“Brisbane is easily one of my favourite tournaments of the year,” said Ebden, who lost to eventual champion Robin Soderling in the 2011 Brisbane quarter-finals. “I have had some promising results there in the last two years and in a way that has helped be a springboard for me into the rest of the summer and the 2012 tennis season. I hope that it may be the place where I win my first singles title! I would like to thank everyone at the Brisbane International and Tennis Australia for the opportunity.”
Ebden, who lost to Richard Gasquet in the 2011 Sydney first round, will take his place in the main draw alongside Grand Slam championship winners Juan Martin del Potro and Lleyton Hewitt.
“The Apia International Sydney is a top class event and there is always a really strong field,” Ebden said. “I am really thankful to Tennis Australia and the event organisers for showing such great faith in my abilities and granting me a wildcard. I’ve had some great results this year and I am confident that I can produce some of my best tennis there in a few weeks time. One of my main goals in the coming year is to win my first title and it would be fantastic to do that in Sydney.”
Ebden started 2011 at No. 196 in the South African Airways 2011 ATP Rankings and rose to a career-high No. 79 on the back of reaching the Shanghai Rolex Masters quarter-finals.
